He helped Spurs win the FA Cup in his third season there in 1980/81, and after a season on loan at Paris Saint Germain returned to White Hart Lane to play his part in Tottenham's Uefa Cup triumph in 1984.
In the autumn of 1987, he was caretaker manager of Tottenham between the resignation of David Pleat and the appointment of Terry Venables. He left Spurs in 1988, playing for Blackburn, QPR and Swindon - where he later took his first steps on the full-time managerial ladder in July 1989.
Shrewsbury are looking for a manager since sacking Paul Simpson earlier this month.
