Hart has been impressive since breaking into the first team at the end of last season and has now been rewarded.

And as a bonus to Town fans, the call up should not interfere with Town's league schedule. Shrewsbury host Oxford at the Gay Meadow on Friday 2nd September, and Hart will link up with the squad in time for the Belgium match, which takes place on Tuesday 6th at Darlington's Williamson's Motors Stadium.

Hart then returns in time for Town's trip to Torquay on September 10th. Manager Gary Peters was not surprised witht the development, he told ShrewsWeb that the sky was the limit for Hart: "It was only a matter of time and since I joined the club I've never had a doubt that Joe will play for
England.

"If we handle him right and he does the right things then I'm sure he can go as far as being a full international."

The other goalkeeper in the squad is
Sunderland's Ben Alnwick, but he is not playing regular first team football like Hart.

The Under-19 manager, Martin Hunter, told TheFA.com: "We can’t wait to get the international season under way and it’s fitting that we’re heading to
Darlington’s fantastic new stadium for our first match of the season.
