Shrews boss Graham Turner said: "Dean's in the side, and he'll probably play on Friday night (at Bury)."
Holden has made 11 starts for Town and four on loan at Rotherham this season, and is first pick at right-back after Jermaine Grandison pulled a hamstring.
The Coventry loanee pulled up after 10 minutes of Town's 3-1 defeat at Oxford on Tuesday, with Holden coming off the bench and staking his claim to keep the shirt.
"Dean's agent's been a bit out of order," Turner said.
"I've had a chat to Dean, and with what we've got at the moment he's required at the club. We certainly haven't got enough defenders - so unless someone else comes in, Dean's in the team."
