Adaggio hit a hat-trick in the reserve team's 3-1 over Carlisle yesterday and now Town believe he is ready to train with the first team.
The recent departures of John Grant and and Ryan Lowe has also left a slight shortage of options up front, which Adaggio could help with.
Town boss Gary Peters told ShrewsWeb that Adaggio had earnt the promotion: "Marco's a super lad and whether he scored the goals or not yesterday it was an excellent performance from him.
"He makes good runs, is intelligent, backs into people and is a bright young player."
Peters continued: "I've never been scared of using youth players, and we set precedence yesterday in that he's only a first-year scholar but we want him to train with the first team now.
"We feel that he will learn more of people in the first team like Duane Darby, Mike Sheron, Luke Rodgers and Kelvin Langmead, being around people who are the next stage up.
"We'll have him train with us and that's a big plus for the youth development, not only does that give a lift to Marco but the other lads know that if they do well then there's no reason they can't train with us if they are ready."
Adaggio has been handed the no. 20 shirt, and could feature in the first team once Town ensure their safety this season.
