The Town reserve side featured five trialists, including Barnsley giant Fola Onibuje.
But despite scoring in the 2-2 with Rochdale's second string, Onibuje, and the other hopefuls do not look to have a future at Gay Meadow.
Peters told ShrewsWeb: "All of the lads came from clubs above us and you've got to look at these players for the future, and we had a look at them but none of them were good enough."
Peters also said that just because names were being linked with the club, this does not mean they are automatically a target. He explained: "You'll speak to a club about a player and then you'll see that 'Gary Peters is looking at 'X' player' in the media."
The boss also said he wouldn't be rushing into any panic buys: "I'm a bit of a perfectionist and tend to go and watch a player two or three times before I make my mind up.
"I don't want to make any costly mistakes so tend to do more homework than most."
