Moss left for Crewe on Wednesday and Peters now wants to strengthen the backline, the Shropshire Star reports.
Stuart Whitehead is the fill-in for Moss, but he is essentially a centre-back and the other option, Dave Ridler (hernia), is injured.
Over the past few weeks Town have had a number of trialist defenders (and others) playing reserve games as they look to secure contracts for next season.
But none of these players have made the grade, and Peters believes they are no better than the youth players Town possess.
Peters told a recent Q & A session: "Every reserve game that we play we usually have a few trialists in there. As players get released from other clubs we have a look at them, but usually the players who get released aren't the best.
"It's not just about watching trialists, but other people who I've been watching for a while so I can bring in people to make ourselves better."
