New Shrewsbury commercial and operations director Ian Bebbington hopes to generate more funds for Town manager Paul Simpson.Bebbington has now taken on a full-time role at the Prostar Stadium and he hopes to generate more revenue for the League Two club.

He told BBC Radio Shropshire: "My role is to get the club working better and moving forward in all directions.

"The money we generate off the pitch will ultimately feed football on it."

Bebbington, 40, has formerly been in charge of the National Sports Centre at Lilleshall and the National Water Sports Centre at Holme Pierrepoint.

My main role though is to bring more money and resources into the football club

"The Prostar Stadium is a multi-million pound state-of-the-art complex here at Shrewsbury, and the club has progressed a long way - but perhaps a bit too quickly for itself," he added.

"We have so many different departments now, a much larger staff than in the old Gay Meadow days.

"First of all I'm going to get in there, improve communication with the fans and with customers and also within the club itself.

"My main role though is to bring more money and resources into the football club and that ultimately will help Paul Simpson's playing budget."
