"We have two strikers who can score, wingers with pace, a solid defence," McIntyre told BBC Radio Shropshire.
"There's also the character in the squad to help us get that promotion we've been looking for."
McIntyre joined Shrewsbury in January 2008 after four years at Macclesfield, where he was the club's player of the year in 2006/07.
He has featured for Town on the left side of midfield or at left-back, and was an almost ever-present for the Shrews last season.
He was one of only five players offered new terms by the club in the summer after Simpson's departure.
"The old manager was great, but the new one's come in and put his stamp on things," McIntyre added.
"Graham Turner's brought in some great players, we're playing with style, and we've been top of or near the top all season.
"It's scary for the teams who play us."
