Shrewsbury striker Kris Bright has come through a final friendly to prove his fitness for the new League Two season.Bright, who missed most of the campaign build-up with a shoulder injury, played with a Town youth side in a 0-0 draw against non-League neighbours Shawbury.
"He came through OK and did well," boss Graham Turner told BBC Radio Shropshire of the 23-year-old.
"He's back in full-time training - that's good, as he sort of need to prove himself to me."
Bright missed the club's pre-season tour to Devon, so Turner - who only took over in the summer following the sacking of Paul Simpson in April - has not had the chance to see Bright in action.
The Kiwi international joined Shrewsbury from the Greek Super League side Panserraikos at the start of the 2009/10 season, and was due to start Shrewsbury's first match.
But a problem with his international clearance from Greece meant he had to sit out that game, and his replacement Dave Hibbert - now with Peterborough - staked his claim, and went on to finish as Shrewsbury's top scorer last season.
Bright managed to force his way back into the side later in the season, but goals were hard to come by and he managed just two in the League - against Lincoln in April, and at Port Vale on the last day of the season.
He also scored the winner in a 2-1 win over AFC Telford United in the Shropshire Senior Cup final.
Bright, who has represented New Zealand from Under-15 up to senior level, missed out on the final 23-man squad for the 2010 World Cup, but was named as one of seven non-travelling reserves.
