There were many positives for boss Gary Peters, who saw Luke Rodgers hit the target again, as well as a beauty from Ryan Lowe.
Lowe has played a limited part of the Peters revolution, but this goal could signal a turnaround.
Peters told ShrewsWeb: "I needed to have Ryan Lowe back today as Sam [Aiston] wasn't there on the other side so I need an attacking winger and he gave us good balance. Some good quality came from Ryan today and if he keeps that up then picking a side will become very difficult."
Once again Peters paid tribute to the fans, mentioning the recently returning drum beat, "We weren't a the races for the first ten-minutes but the crowd lifted us, kept cheering and banging the drum. They set themselves a standard last week against Kidderminster and have kept it up today and they now know what we can achieve together," he added.
Town fans will be encouraged that the victory was possible despite the absence of in-form Darren Moss and influential winger Sam Aiston.
