Walton has been out with a groin problem and has not featured in 2005.
While his return is an obvious boost, it is not likely that he will go straight into first-team action, despite playing a full reserve game.
Town's defence, with the exception of the Dalington disaster, has been strong under Peters, and risking an injury to the side's best defender may not be a smart move.
Town also look to be without Neil Ashton, who has not recovered from his ankle problem sustained against Boston.
