The much travelled striker has not featured this season after falling down the pecking order.

He asked for a transfer and has since played with Grimsby Reserves. Town gaffer Jimmy Quinn said: 'He did a great job for us last year when he scored thirteen goals and helped us get back into the league'.

Another player who could be on his way out, albeit tremporarily, is Dave Ridler. The centre-half is set to go out on loan after falling behind new boys Whitehead and Walton. However, Quinn has stressed that he wants the player long-term.

He told the Chronicle: 'I don’t want to get rid of him as if you get a couple of injuries and he ends up going to another club, then you’re looking for a new centre half.'

John McGrath will be saying for another month but is not eligible for the LDV tie against Bournemouth, as stipulated by his club, Doncaster. And there is no news on Pedro Matias, the veteran midfielder who scored for the reserves against Chester and is training with the club.

Town host Yeovil tomorrow and have Duane Darby in contention after featuring for the reserves. However, several first-teamers are struglling with illness, Luke Rodgers, Martin O'Connor, Kevin Street, Dave Edwards and Trevor Challis are all question marks, and Sam Aiston is still banned.
