Shrews still perched on summitShrewsbury stayed top of the Sky Bet League Two table after goals either side of half-time sealed a comfortable 2-0 win over AFC Wimbledon.Liam Lawrence and Scott Vernon were the goalscorers as Micky Mellon's men eased to a triumph which keeps them ahead of second-placed Burton on goal difference.Shrewsbury made much of the early running with shots from Tyrone Barnett, Jordan Clark and Vernon just off target.They lost their momentum following an eight-minute delay for treatment to Wimbledon goalkeeper James Shea, who had to be stretchered off.The visitors picked up when play finally resumed and David Connolly fired a shot just over before Craig Tanner's effort was saved at his near post by Jayson Leutwiler.Shrewsbury made the breakthough in stoppage time at the end of the first half when skipper Lawrence drilled a shot into the corner of the net from 12 yards after the Dons were unable to clear a cross from Jermaine Grandison.The hosts doubled their advantage in the 49th minute as Lawrence's corner was powerfully headed home at the near post by Vernon.Shrewsbury, who remain unbeaten at home in the league this season, might have ran out more convincing winners with James Collins cracking a shot against the bar from 25 yards while, at the other end, Leutwiler's best save came from Adebayo Azeez
