Shrews claim vital win
Shrewsbury kept in touch with the League Two pacesetters after seeing off fellow high fliers Gillingham 2-0.
Goals from Shane Cansdell-Sherriff and Mark Wright sealed only a second win in six games in all competitions for Graham Turner's men.
Central defender Cansdell-Sherriff broke the deadlock in emphatic style after 30 minutes. Gillingham were unable to clear a corner and when it fell to Cansdell-Sherriff 12 yards out, the Australian cracked home a rasping volley.
Shrewsbury almost doubled their advantage just before the break but winger Jon Taylor fired just wide after exchanging passes with Marvin Morgan.
Gillingham were improved after the restart and Chris Whelpdale cracked a long range drive just wide but Shrewsbury always looked more dangerous and, after James Collins fired just off target, they wrapped up the points three minutes from time.
Jermaine Grandison's deflected cross ran kindly for Wright and the winger slammed in an unstoppable shot from 12 yards for his eighth goal of the season.
